Q: I just got back from China and have made some friends that now are exchange students at my college! They continually complain about the food on campus so I have offered to make them dinner for one of their upcoming birthdays! I am hoping to make them a delicious american dish but am having trouble deciding! can anyone suggest one? thanks! oh and they are from sichuan so spicy is very good!
A: I think a spicy twist on meatloaf would be great.Find a basic recipie and use 2/3ketcuup and 1/3 spicy sichuan "rooster sauce "in the mix.Add hot Italian sausage to the meat mixture with some garlic and a little jalepeno chlies. Make a glaze to put on top of the loaf with bbq sauce mixed with kethuup,brown sugar,mustard,and a little maple syrup.Wrap the loaf with several strands of bacon and cook until done. Serve with mashed potateos and mashed yams with brown sugar and cream. .Brussle sprouts ,if you dare..with butter and horseradish,sour cream to mix in if you like it. Alternitve side dish could be,Brococlli with a cheddar cream sauce,Look for ideas at allrecipes.com Have fun,D.
